Why upgrade?

We are dedicated to upgrading axiUm regularly to improve performance and adding new features to help you effectively manage your dental clinics and improve patient care. Updating to the latest version of axiUm will ultimately save your staff time, reduce headaches and increase productivity.

In this new version, we updated the icons and the navigation panel to refresh axiUm’s look, gave you more options to customize axiUm and improved the navigation experience.

We also added two new modules; eLab and Inbound Referrals.

eLab
eLab streamlines the workflow between your dental organization and the lab. It integrates with Henry Schein’s DDX software and saves you valuable time, by allowing you to create, approve, send and track lab orders electronically.

Inbound Referrals
Inbound Referrals eliminates the lengthy, paper-based system and drastically shortens the patient referral process. It allows prospective referrals to submit an axiUm electronic form from a website and your users to immediately access it in axiUm.

We’ve also updated our online modules with some new enhancements. FirstAccess has been improved to work with different devices and processes, allowing you to choose the best workflow for your organization’s situation. To improve security, PatientAccess can now be configured with a custom Oracle® user, thus allowing you to restrict access to what is required by PatientAccess.

Several intuitive new updates have been added to the Consents, Messenger and Evaluations features in axiUm. You can now always preview a consent page or the entire consent before signing. As well, you can change message statuses and mark a read message as unread. Improvements in evaluations now give you more control over the evaluation process. You can now control whether users see or use certain buttons on the User Authentication window during student evaluations, thus preventing students from possibly manipulating the evaluation.

Watch our webinar where we highlight all of the new updates and improved functionalities in axiUm 7.03:

1. Modernized Usability – New Navigation Panel & Refreshed Icons

A fresh, new navigation panel replaces the previous list of module icons along the left side of the main page. In addition, you can now customize an image beside the axiUm logo. Also new are the icons, which have been refreshed with modern, up-to-date images. Their functionality, however, remains the same.

Why we did it: We updated the icons and the navigation panel to create a clean and modern look throughout axiUm, to give you more options to customize axiUm and to improve your navigation experience.

2. New Modules

eLab: The new eLab module integrates with DDX software and allows you to create, approve, send, and track lab orders electronically.

Why we did it: eLab streamlines the workflow between your dental organization and the lab. It integrates with Henry Schein’s DDX software and saves you valuable time.

Inbound Referrals: With the new Inbound Referrals module, your users can embed an axiUm web form in their institution’s website and allow third party physicians to refer clients to their institution. Once received in axiUm, they can review the form and attach to a patient or reject the referral.

Why we did it: Inbound Referrals eliminates lengthy, paper-based referral processes that involve scanning, faxing, emailing and mailing. Making this process electronic in axiUm drastically shortens the patient referral process. Prospective referrals simply submit an axiUm electronic form from a website and your users to immediately access it and manage it within axiUm saving days, even weeks in wait time.

Note: eLab and Inbound Referrals are optional axiUm+ modules available for purchase. We invite you to contact one of our axiUm Customer Success Managers for more information.

3. Updated Web Applications – PatientAccess, FirstAccess

In FirstAccess, kiosk profiles can now be configured to move the focus (cursor) automatically to the Patient ID / Name field. This allows patients to type their information without selecting the field first.

Why we did it: FirstAccess was originally designed for iPads. It has now been improved to work with different devices and processes, allowing you to choose the best workflow for your institution’s situation.

To improve security, PatientAccess can now be configured with a custom Oracle® user instead of using the standard axiUm user.

Why we did it: PatientAccess was updated to improve your organization’s security. By creating a custom Oracle® user, you can restrict access to what is required by PatientAccess.

4. Improved Functionality – Consents, Messenger, Evaluations

Consents:
If required, institutions can now set axiUm to capture initials on each page of a consent and control whether the initials are optional or required. Users can also preview pages of a consent or an entire consent before signing.

Why we did it: Previously, users were prompted to sign a consent, but couldn’t preview the page or the entire form without cancelling out and re-adding the consent. Now, with the new functionality, you can always preview a consent page or the entire consent before signing.

Messenger:
When reviewing received messages sent via Messenger, users can now mark read messages as unread.

Why we did it: In previous versions, when you opened the Messenger module and reviewed a message, it un-bolded and was marked as read and you could not change its status. In this new updated version, you can now change message statuses and mark a read message as unread, re-bolding the subject and sender line.

Evaluations:
During student evaluations, the Instructor and Held For buttons in the User Authentication window can now be controlled in PowerAdmin.

Why we did it: Previously, when evaluations required a completed evaluation form by more than one user, you could not remove access to the Instructor and Held For buttons in the User Authentication window. Consequently, in some cases students could manipulate the evaluation. With the updated version, you can now control whether users can see or use these buttons on the User Authentication window during student evaluations giving you more control over the evaluation process.

5. New Technology Enhancements – Database Selector

axiUm now allows users, that may have access to multiple instances of axiUm on their workstation, to select which database they want to connect with at start up.

Why we did it: Managing connections to multiple databases can be cumbersome. With the new version of axiUm, we’ve made it easier for you to use one set of run files to easily connect to different databases.

In conclusion

This latest version 7.03 of axiUm gives your organization so many great reasons to upgrade your axiUm software. We’ve included several new enhancements that modernize usability and improve existing functionality for your dental organization. We even added two new modules (eLab and Inbound Referrals) and introduced additional technology enhancements.
